GRACIE THE YELLOW BUS
Grace Baptist Church has two forms of transportation, but the one most used is the Yellow Bus Gracie. She seats 33, but the attendance varies sometimes picking up 15 children and adults sometimes up to 27. When we had our bus donated to the church two years ago the children were so excited. No more excited than our bus driver Mrs. Sue Snipes who loves these children as her own and plans activities for them keeping them wanting to come back every week.
We do something different on Gracie each week. Some Sundays we just relax and sing songs on the bus and the kids just enjoy each other’s company with some they have not seen for a week. Some weeks we play games like Pizza Frisbee, Clothespin Tally, Beach Ball Sunday with winners getting something sweet and we have many different games. Some weeks we have contests like who can wear the most red on Valentine Day Sunday and green on Saint Patrick’s Day. The prize for the winner can be a bag of candy or maybe a Gift Certificate for a favorite restaurant.
We also have a Rider of the Month winner. Actually it is Rider of two months. In order to win, the children come and bring their Bibles faithfully for two months straight and whoever does that, their name goes in a basket and the child picked gets a cash prize and their picture taken and put inside the bus with the title Bus Rider of Two Months: Example: April-May put under the picture.
We also have two Treasure Boxes on the bus and to get a prize out of either Treasure Box all they have to do is bring a visitor. Not only does the visitor get something they pick themselves out of that Treasure Box but the Bus Rider that brought them gets something to. If they bring 5 visitors they get five gifts out of the Treasure Box and yes we have had some do just that.
We have a Captain on our bus and a Co-Captain that will help out if a child needs anything and to help the younger ones in the activities. When the children arrive at the church we have designated teachers to help them get to their classes.
Gracie travels all over Deltona picking up children and adults that may want to come and have no way to get there. She would love to pick you up too. We are always praying for more riders.
THE WHITE VAN
The other form of transportation is a 15 passenger White Van that is also used in Grace Baptist Church ministries. The van is used primary for the Teen Ministry, but we have used it in many forms. We even pick up adults that sometimes need a ride.
The van is also used to pick up teens and adults that may want to attend the Teen Youth Rallies at different churches and other teen related activities they might go to throughout the year.
The teens have various Car Washes at Fairwinds in Orange City in the spring and early summer to raise money for going to camp. The van is used to take those teens to the Car Wash following going out to eat after and then takes them home.
We have sometimes used the van to pick up the teens for Wednesday night Teen Group . It is there to use when it is needed to serve our Lord.
In Christ Care:
